Week 11

The term has just flown by, it is so hard to believe that this is the last week of Term 1.

So much great learning has happened.
We were so lucky to have a great swimming season and the children loved the try-Athlon.
The walk down to Riverdale Kindergarten was lots of fun, and it was great to meet some of the children before they started school. Hopefully they will come and meet visit us next term.
After school t-ball was fun also.
Learning letters/sounds and words has helped us all with our reading - along with learning how to match words 1-1.
Learning to introduce ourselves in Māori, "ko ------------au."
We have worked hard to try and write some of these words in our story/sentence writing.
Recognising different coins and notes along with our number knowledge skills was great.
J.E.T time.
And that's just a part of what we have done.

Next term will see Janine Sweetapple and  I working together. Janine and I will begin the day together, (many of the children know Janine from the days when I was unwell) Janine will work with the older children in Room 5, for Reading, Writing and some maths groups. This will ensure smaller, optimum learning size groups. The children will rejoin Room 1 for  all other learning areas. If you have a query or question about this, please feel free to ask.

This week our letter /sound is WW
Our word of the week is 'go'
We will continue on with our money focus.
Enjoy the learning week ahead.

Week 10

The Easter break made the past week just fly by. It was great to welcome Aria into our room this week.
Thursday evening the teachers were all lucky to attend a session with Joseph Driessen, a leading educationalist discussing ways to engage children in learning. It was a very informative evening.

It was great to see the rain begin to fall, the children all adjusted well to being inside all day.

Friday's mufti day was great - what an amazing amount of cans we have to give to the Food bank when they come to visit. We also had all together J.E.T in the morning. The children all enjoy the opportunity to mix with older children from the junior school.

Puhara playing with the dress up clothes.

This week we will be looking at the letter "Cc" as our letter/sound of the week.
The word of the week is "we."
The maths focus changes to money. Identifying different coins and notes.

It is great to see the children learning more letters and sounds. Thank you for the support you are giving to this at home, reinforcing the word of the week or the letter name and sound, it makes such a difference.

Have a great week ahead.
